Russian Olive

Introduced as a deciduous shrub for ornamental use.
Growth Habit: Deciduous perennial shurb/small tree
Leaves: Silvery, linear, and covered with scale-like stellate pubescence. 2-4 inches long.
Stem/Trunk: Reddish-brown in color with woody thorns. Twigs are flexible and covered in gray, scaly, pubescence.
Flower: Yellow and arranged in clusters.
Seeds: Olive-shaped. Young fruit are silver, turning tan or brown at maturity. Seeds can be viable for three years.
Root: Taproot with a well developed later root system.
Other: Aromatic plant.
