Monitoring/Inventory Lead


This position will be located between Saratoga and Encampment, WY along the North Platte river. The position will start in May and end in August, with some flexibility to accommodate semester start and end dates.


Carbon County Weed & Pest (CCWP) is looking for a motivated individual who is interested in gaining valuable experience working with invasive species management. The successful applicant will be tasked with assisting in the coordination and completion of the monitoring program for invasive species, including leafy spurge and cheatgrass, along the North Platte river

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Use prior knowledge and/or experience of invasive species monitoring techniques to complete projects
  • Implement GPS and GIS technologies 
  • Spend time outdoors primarily traveling by foot to specific locations
  • Be able to correctly map areas
  • Coordinate with various landowners on a regular basis
  • Ability to work independently and without constant supervision. 


  • Prior knowledge and experience with GIS and GPS technologies is preferred
  • Prior knowledge and experience with invasive species monitoring and inventory techniques is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and without constant direct supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with landowners
  •  Preference will be given to applicants with rafting experience
  • Ability to walk extended hours in varying elements and potentially challenging terrain


  • Housing may be provided
  • Potential internship credits through the University of Wyoming for qualified individuals
  • Starting wage $14.00 – $16.00/hour (starting wage dependent on experience)
  •  Experience in implementing invasive species monitoring and inventory techniques
